IR-cut filters (also known as hot mirrors, infrared blocking filters, or heat-reflecting dielectric optics) are precision optical components engineered to transmit the visible light spectrum while highly reflecting unwanted near-infrared (NIR) thermal and optical radiation.
Functions:
Uses multi-layer inorganic dielectric interference coatings deposited via PVD-EBGE on optical glass or blue glass substrates to maintain high average transmittance in the visible band ($T \ge 90\%–95\%$, 400 nm–680 nm) while reflecting near-infrared wavelengths (700 nm–1100 nm+) back toward the light source. This prevents image sensor chromatic distortion, protects internal optical components from thermal overload, and cuts unwanted UV radiation.
1. High visible light transmittance across 400 nm to 680 nm.
2. Complete UV suppression via dielectric reflection or glass absorption (<380 nm).
3. High near-infrared reflection and thermal cutoff (700 nm to 1100 nm+).

1. IR-cut filters feature precision thin-film dielectric interference coatings comprising 36 to 56 layers vacuum-deposited on optical glass substrates, achieving sharp NIR cut-off edges and high visible transmittance.
2. Spectral transmission curves are optimized for normal incidence (0° angle of incidence, AOI). Operating at larger incidence angles causes a blue shift, shifting spectral edge characteristics toward shorter wavelengths.
3. Manufactured using Physical Vapor Deposition with Electron Beam Gun Evaporation (PVD-EBGE) technology, ensuring high coating density, excellent substrate adhesion, and superior environmental durability.
4. Custom dimensions, non-standard shapes, and tailored spectral coating bandpasses are available upon request.
5. Spectral transmittance curves represent measurements captured at normal incidence (0° angle of incidence).
6. Transmittance curves reflect actual physical sample measurement data and are subject to minor manufacturing tolerances between production lots while remaining strictly within engineering spectral limits.
