UV-cut filters (also known as UV-Stop, UV-Block, or UV-Absorbing/Reflective optical filters) are precision dielectric coated optical components designed to selectively block harmful ultraviolet radiation while maintaining maximum luminous transmittance across the visible spectrum (400 nm – 700 nm).
Functions:
Blocks or reflects up to 99.9% of ultraviolet wavelengths (including UV-A, UV-B, and UV-C radiation) while preserving exceptional photopic transparency and neutral color balance. Effectively prevents light-induced material fading, polymer degradation, and organic dye photo-oxidation caused by intense lighting sources.
Applications:
Medical surgical lighting
Retail showcase luminaires
Digital camera imaging sensors
Industrial optical instruments
Museum and artwork conservation lighting
Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) light paths

1. UV-Cut filters are manufactured using thin-film optical vacuum deposition, featuring precision multilayer dielectric stacks typically comprising 28 to 36 layers to achieve sharp spectral cutoff profiles.
2. Custom spectral bands, transmission thresholds, and color characteristics can be engineered upon request, matching standard optical specifications or designated color codes (such as LEE Filters or Rosco color reference charts).
3. Advanced Physical Vapor Deposition with Electron Beam Gun Evaporation (PVD-EBGE) technology ensures high film density, outstanding environmental stability, and superior thermal durability.
4. Spectral transmittance curves represent measurements at normal incidence (0° angle of incidence). Non-transmitted light within the ultraviolet spectrum is reflected by the dielectric thin-film stack. Penetration color and cutoff edge may shift slightly at oblique angles of incidence (blue-shift effect).
5. Physical chemical tempering or thermal strengthening applies to substrate processing with minimum dimension and geometric limitations. Please refer to Introduction to Tempered Glass for technical details.
6. Spectral curves display measured sample values and may exhibit minor tolerances between manufacturing production lots while strictly complying with defined spectral specifications.
7. Dimension abbreviations: "Dia." or "Ø" denotes circular outer diameter.
8. Website specifications are provided for reference only. Final production and delivery comply with mutually agreed engineering specifications and actual physical products.
9. Spectral UV Classification: UV-A (400–315 nm), UV-B (315–280 nm), and UV-C (280–100 nm).
